How Do The Recent Changes To Ubuntu Effect The Community?

Ubuntu is undergoing some serious changes for its next release. Codenamed Natty+1, Ubuntu 11.10 will come bundled with QT libraries for the first time.

Why is this such a big deal?

Because QT is the set of programming libraries behind the KDE desktop environment, and Ubuntu is the known champion of of the Gnome Desktop, which uses GTK+ libraries.

With Linux going for a tablet friendly interface over the long standing Gnome 3.0 with theirs next Ubuntu release.

Ubuntu’s Dev team announced even further changes by dropping the X Windows System favoring Wayland for future of it’s Graphical User Interfacing (GUI).

Linux desktop developers seem to still be in shock over some other major changes in the works and have remained silent. The Debate over QT not being open source enough for Ubuntu seems, for the most part, to have been swept away with these recent developments.
